My Pets

I recently got hold of several books on how to make beaded animals. It took me some time to understand the patterns since the instructions were in Japanese. lol. So far, I’ve been able to make rabbits, mouse and horse. Mousey turned out very cute, but I gave it away.

Here are my pets -

First Post

Just a boring title huh? I'm not happy with my WP blog. Can't seem to customize it the way I want it. The layout I like didn't have the feature I want. I'm just picky with layout! I'll miss the calendar though. That's one of the WP widget I like best.

I am going to antedate when I transfer my entries from the WP blog

Why Why Love

I was watching this Taiwan drama called Why Why Love. The heroine said:

我不會向天空伸出手,期待會有人牽著我的手,帶我向前走。因為這樣,我就會一直有向前走的勇氣,而不會停著等待.

Indifference

Powerful quote I came across while surfing

The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.
The opposite of art is not ugliness, it’s indifference.
The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference.
And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference.

- Elie Wiesel (October 1986)

Evan Almighty

I watched Evan Almighty last night and one of the dialogue was truly memorable:

If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?

God will give us choices in life and it’s up to us to choose which path we want to go.

The movie also brought new meaning to the word “Ark”. It’s not just about the ark that Noah built for the great flood, it also stands for “Act of Random Kindness”.

Smiling Pasta

I like watching dramas. I have been watching mostly Korean dramas but recently I’ve been more into Taiwan dramas. I’ve just finished watching Smiling Pasta, a lighthearted series about love and family.

I caught the first 3 episodes on our cable tv and watched the rest on Youtube. Since my Chinese vocabulary is nothing to boast about, it was a good thing that the version on Youtube had English subtitles. I could better appreciate the dialogues.

The main character Xiao Shi (portrayed by Cindy Wang) had a string of bad luck with guys. She had 17 boyfriends, but no relationship had gone beyond 90 days. On the day she broke up with her boyfriend, she accidentally bumped into a guy (portrayed by Nicholas Teo) being chased by paparazzi. As they fell to the ground, their lips met and the paparazzi was happily shooting pictures of the couple’s kiss. It turns out that the guy is a popular singer and to ward off bad press, his agent explained that the girl was his fiancee!
